I was born in India and grew up in the character building cold of Milwaukee, WI where I often still venture to visit friends and family. I began writing stories as a kid and handed them out to children on the school bus. In those stories my friends figured as main characters as the bus careened out of control across the city.
I currently reside with my family in the Pacific Northwest where I work on writing and in my free time am an emergency room physician.
I grew up reading fantasy and science fiction and read widely in both genres.
Lord of the Rings, Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke, and Watership Down by Richard Adams are among my favorites. I also love general fiction and count Alan Paton's Cry of the Beloved Country as one of the best books I've ever read.
Books on writing I've enjoyed include Story by Robert Mckee, Scene and Structure by Jack Bickham, and Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott
